The products sold in this section of the boutique are created exclusively by Chez Doris clients with the help of volunteers.

The Mittens Project is one of Chez Doris’ most popular social and creative activities. Together, clients and volunteers transform wool sweaters into mittens, slippers and scarves.

Some of the new and/or used sweaters donated to Chez Doris are selected for the project. The money raised from the sale of these products, after shipping costs, is used entirely for activities and outings for Chez Doris’ clients.

By participating in these types of activities, the women gain a sense of accomplishment, enjoy the socialization and the opportunity to contribute to Chez Doris. They have no previous training and, in some cases, limited skills. Some suffer from mental illness and take medication, which makes it difficult for them to concentrate, yet they are extremely proud of their accomplishments.

Other products made by the women are also available in the Artcraft section.
